DISTRICT CHAMPIONS!

CENTRAL BOYS BOWLING CRUSHES ZACHARY, WIN BACK TO BACK DISTRICT TITLES

Wednesday (3-12-14) was another celebratory moment for Central High Bowling as both the Boys and Girls teams brought home District Titles!  The Boys (8-1) easily defeated Zachary (2-8) 25-2 and 3319-2346 to repeat as District Champions.  The 3319 was the 3rd highest series for the Wildcats this season.  Game 1 saw several Wildcats light up the score board with Jacob Garretson (Junior & Captain) leading the way with a 245, Parker Aucoin (Freshman) with a 226, Sean Murphy (Senior) rolling a 212 and Dylan Ringo (Freshman) chipping in 205 for a 8-0 and 1114-763 win.  The next two games would go in similar fashion with the Wildcats winning 8-0 (1086-808) and 6-2 (1119-775).  Game 2 was led by Garretson’s 269 and Game 3 was led by Johnathan Ryder’s (Sophomore) 211 and Bryce Delaune’s (Freshman) 207.  Overall, Garretson led the Wildcats with a 694 series, followed by Aucoin’s 611, Ringo’s 549 and Murphy’s 504.  With two more matches before the State Playoffs (3-24-14), Central’s winning is now at 8 matches.  Dominic Taylor was high for Zachary with a 622 series (209, 190, 223).

CENTRAL GIRLS BOWLING KNOCKS OFF REDEMPTORIST, WIN FIRST EVER DISTRICT TITLE

In a rematch from a month ago, Central (8-1) knocked off Redemptorist (7-4) by a final score of 23-4 and 2661-2044 to claim their first ever District Title.  Unlike the close match from a month ago where Central only won by 100 pins, the Wildcats made short work of the Wolves and won all three games in blowout fashion.  Central won Game 1 6-2 (862-685), Game 2 7-1 (942-701) and Game 3 7-1 (857-658).  Game 1 was led by Haley Young (Junior/Co-Captain) with a 217, Game 2 was led by Young and Sarah LeDuff (Sophomore/Co-Captain) with a 190 and Game 3 was led by LeDuff with a 199.  Overall, the Wildcats was led by Young with a 568, LeDuff’s 543, Kaylee Robinson’s (Sophomore) 475 and Brittnee Robinson’s (Freshman) 452.  In a season of uncertainty due to not fielding a Girls’ team in two years and most of the roster being new to bowling as of November, the Girls’ program is not only back but looks to be strong for years to come.  Five of the six current starters will return next year and four of those are Sophomore or Freshman!  Central has two matches remaining before they gear up for the State Playoffs on March 24th.
