By  |

Central High Boys (6-1) on Wednesday (2-26-14) topped Denham Springs (3-3) to maintain their one and a half game lead on Scotlandville in the Baton Rouge 5A North standings and extended their winning streak to 6 matches.
Central would come out striking in Game 1 and demolish Denham Springs.  Central’s first game would lead to a 7-1 advantage and over a 200 pin lead in Total Pins (1079-869).  The Wildcats were led by anchor Parker Aucoin (Freshman) with a 193, followed by Sean Murphy (Senior) with a 191 and Dylan Ringo’s (Freshman) 187.   Denham Springs would try to get back into the match with a strong Game 2, but the Yellow Jackets would ultimately fall again to Central in Total Pins, 999-1028.  Central would only win two individual points but even Game 2’s point total by winning the total pin battle by 29 pins.  Central’s bottom two bowlers would come through in the clutch to seal the second game.  Trailing by a few pins in the 10th Frame, both Aucoin and Garretson (Senior/Captain) would mark-out to help the Wildcats take an 11-5 overall lead.  Aucoin would finish with a 234 and Garretson with a 210.
Game 3 left no doubt just how good Central can be at times.  The Wildcats runaway and hid in Game 3 by setting a new Boy’s Game School Record with a 1222, upping their previous record from last season of 1202 (also set against Denham).  Game 3 was a complete team effort and had contributions from every member in the line-up.  Aucoin led the team with a 245, followed by Ringo’s 235, Garretson’s 213, Bryce Delaune’s (Freshman) 188, Johnathan Ryder’s (Sophomore) 178 and Kevin Murphy’s (Senior) with a 163.  Central closed out Denham Springs by winning Game 3 8-0 and 1222-883 in Total Pins.  Central would win the match 22-5 and 3329-2751 in Total Pins.  Overall, Aucoin’s 670 series was high for the Wildcats, followed by Garretson’s 601, Ringo’s 574 and Ryder’s 498.  Kyler Campbell was high for Denham Springs with a 544 series.  Central will continue the quest for their second straight District Title on Monday (3-10-14) against Scotlandville (5-3) and then on Wednesday (3-12-14) against Zachary (2-6).  Both matches will be at 3:15pm at All Star Lanes.
