Six Wildcats Sign with Colleges for Football

Photo by Michael Spangler  Pictured above are the Central High School athletes who signed on Wednesday, February 5th: Ryan Morris (Louisiana College), Gary Triplett (Nicholls State), L’Allan Clark (Northwestern), Jarrad Hayes (Southern University), Donnie Lewis (Tulane), and Jake Myer (Nicholls State).  They are pictured with Head Football Coach Sid Edwards.

    A total of six (6) Central High School Football players pledged to continue their academic careers, as well as play football, at five (5) different colleges and universities on Wednesday, February 05, 2014 in front of family, teammates, and friends in the School’s Theatre.  Those signing included:

La’Allan Clark – Northwestern University

La’Allan was a defensive lineman for Central.  He started at Defensive End, but saw some time at the Defensive Tackle position.  La’Allan is also a very good Offensive Lineman.  He played an important role on the front line this year.  La’Allan was named to the First Team All-District Team at the defensive line position.  He is a member of DECA and the Track and Field team.  He plans to major in Sports Management.

Jarrad Hayes – Southern University

Jarrad was the quarterback in this year’s offense for the Wildcats.  Developed into a solid leader for, not only the offense, but for the entire team.  Jarrad earned first team All-District Honors, WBRZ Player of the Week, and Warrick Dunn Player of the Year finalist.  He is very strong in the classroom, having earned Top Cat honors.  He plans to major in Mechanical Engineering.

Donald Lewis, Jr. – Tulane University

Donald was a defensive back for Central.  He was a three year starter for the Wildcats, and is a very versatile player.  Had an outstanding season as the Wildcat’s cornerback while matched up many times with the opponent’s best receiver.  Donald earned first team honors on the All-District, All-Metro, and All-State teams.  He is also very strong in the class room and has Top Cat and Advanced Cat honors during his four years.  Donald is a member of the basketball and track teams as well.  He plans to major in Mass Communication, with a minor in Arts and Theatre.

Ryan Morris – Louisiana College

Ryan has been the starting Center for the past three years.  He has been a leader on the team, as well as the Offensive Line.  He was named to the first team to the All-District and All- Metro teams.  He received the Iron Cat Award, the highest off-season honor awarded.  Ryan is very strong in the classroom and has earned Advanced Cat honors.  He is a member of the Student Council and Baseball team.  Ryan plans to major in Kinesiology.

Jake Myer – Nicholls State University

Jake was the starting running back at Central High.  He is a very versatile player who has played quarterback and free safety during his 4 year career.  Jake is a very powerful running back that provided the Wildcats to have a solid running game.  He is also a powerful hitter on the defensive side of the ball.  Jake earned All-District as a running back this season.  Jake is undecided on his major.

Gary Triplett – Nicholls State University

Gary was a three year starter at various offensive positions during his career at Central High.  He has played wide receiver, running back, and kick returner; earning honors as a wide receiver and a kick returner.  Gary is a member of the track team, and also played basketball during his years at Central.  He is also a member of the Boys and Girls Club.  Gary is undecided on his major.
