Central Boys Make Early Statement in Catholic Scrimmage

By  |

Before the high bowling season kicks off with jamborees all around Baton Rouge next Wednesday (the 15th), Central defeated Catholic 16-11 in Central’s only scrimmage of the preseason this past Thursday (1-9-14).  After losing one senior from last year’s undefeated District Champions and gaining four freshman, Central looks to continue the momentum into the 2014 Season behind a just as talented Wildcat lineup.
Game 1 was dominated by the Wildcats as they swept all the points to take an 8-0 lead and crushing Catholic in Total Pins, 1145-898.  The 1145 would rank as the 5th highest game Central has ever rolled.  Central was lead by Jacob Garretson (Junior) with a 226, Kevin Kennedy’s (Senior) 211 and a 205 from Parker Aucoin (Freshman).  Catholic’s Curtis Westmoland (Senior and 2-time 5A MVP) tried to keep his Bears close with a 198 and Austin Bertrand (Freshman) with a 203.
After substitutions, the next two Games were much closer.  Catholic would take 11 of the last 19 points and 1894-1804 over Games 2 & 3.  Central would still win overall Total Pins easily, 2949-2792.  Central overall was led by Garretson (226, 213/618) and Aucoin (205/570).  With about one week left until the bowling season officially begins, Central will have one last tune-up and participate in a Jamboree on Wednesday (1-15-14) at All Star Lanes (3:15PM) against Broadmoor, Tara and Denham Redemptorist.  Also on Wednesday, Central Girls Bowling will be back in action (after not fielding a team in two years) in their Jamboree against Redemptorist. FOLLOW AND “LIKE” CHS BOWLING ON FACEBOOK:
