Thoughts for 2014

By  |
I know you were expecting a “New Year’s Resolutions” piece here.  Nope.  Today is “Literary Show-And-Tell Day” and I’ve brought some of my favorite quotes to share.  For me, they express how I feel on many issues and keep me focused on doing the right thing.  I hope they can do the same for you as we launch into 2014.
On Faith
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28
“…and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” – Micah 6:8
On Truth
“If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything.” – Mark Twain
“The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.” – Winston Churchill
On Values
“What one generation tolerates, the next generation will embrace.” – John Wesley
“Be sure you put your feet in the right place, then stand firm.” – Abraham Lincoln
On Politics
“I never considered a difference in opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend.”  – Thomas Jefferson
“In a controversy the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves.” – Buddha
On Integrity
“The true test of a man’s character is what he does when no one is watching.” – John Wooden
“What you do screams so loudly that I cannot hear what you say.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Happy New Year and have a great 2014!
