Wildcats Advance to Regionals

By  |
#11 seed Central beat #22 Comeaux at home 34-13 last Friday in the Bi-District playoff game.  Comeaux plays in a tough district, so it was no walkover for Central, but the Wildcats played hard, and it showed in the final score as Central advances to Regionals this Friday.
The defense on both teams kept the game scoreless until the end of the first quarter, when Jarrad Hayes made a 17 yard pass to Joseph Pourciau for the Wildcats’ first touchdown.  Comeaux responded in the second quarter with a touchdown of their own, which Central matched 90 seconds later with another Hayes pass, this time to Taylor Sansone.  Kicker Greg Noel finished the half with a Central field goal, bringing the halftime score to 17-7.
Jake Myer opened the scoring in the second half with a 10-yard touchdown run.  Comeaux answered a few minutes later, but the Wildcats blocked the extra point.  Noel put up another field goal to close out the third quarter, and the final score of the game went to Joseph Pourciau on a 10-yard touchdown pass by Hayes.
Central’s defense did a great job, and Donald Lewis chalked up an interception for the Wildcats.  The Wildcat offensive line certainly deserves a mention here as well, allowing quarterback Jarrad Hayes to put up 253 passing yards, 2 yards shy of his season high.
