Gleaux Run November 16th

By  |
Next Saturday, November 16th, Central Relay for Life will be at Central Intermediate School.  This event benefits the American Cancer Society each year, funding cancer research, treatment, and services for cancer patients and their families.  The Relay event begins at 5PM with a silent auction and food, drinks, and glow items for sale.  Free kids’ relay activities will begin at 5PM as well.  The annual Pet Parade will start at 6PM.  To sign your pet up for the Pet Parade, please use the form included in last week’s edition and online at www.CentralSpeaks.com, or call Tommie Morden at 261-4756.  There will be a guest speaker and recognition of cancer survivors at 6:30PM.
All Gleaux Run 5K runners and walkers must be signed in before 7PM.  Competitive runners (those who run the 5K in under 30 minutes) will start the Gleaux Run at 7:15.  All other runners and walkers will start at 7:45.  To sign up for the Gleaux Run 5K, please visit http://www.active.com/city-of-central-la?running/central-gleaux-run-2013?keywords=na  Registration includes a free t-shirt.  All proceeds from Relay for Life and the Gleaux Run will go to the American Cancer Society.  A luminaria ceremony will follow the run at 9PM.  The ceremony is a time to honor those who have been affected by cancer and to remember those we have lost.
All cancer survivors are invited to run or walk the 5K for free.  Cancer survivors should sign up instead at www.relayforlife.org/centralla so they are not charged a registration fee.  Cancer survivors and their spouses or caregivers are also invited to a free pancake breakfast the morning of November 16th at Blackwater Methodist from 9-11AM.  Register at www.relayforlife.org/centralla.
