Healthy Recipe: Rachel’s Frosty Shake

When it comes to ice cream, as much as I absolutely LOVE chocolate, I will almost always choose vanilla, that is, unless it is a frosty! On VERY special occasions, my Mom would take us to Wendy’s and we would order the small dollar menu chocolate frosty and French fries. And, just in case you didn’t know, Sweet frosty + Salty fries = the best junk food snack ever! Although I only recall having this snack maybe 5 times my entire childhood, I still remember how good it was. Now, I make a “Rachel’s Frosty” at home probably once a week! It’s a perfect breakfast after a workout and crushes any frosty craving you may have. It is very similar to the “Banana Soft Serve” recipe that can be found at www.racheleatsalot.com, but this variation is made especially for those chocolate lovers out there!

Serves 2
3 large bananas, peeled, cut into chunks and frozen for 24 hours
1 ½  scoop Body Fortress Chocolate Whey Protein Powder
½  cup milk
Pour ½ cup milk in a blender. Add protein powder next and place bananas on top. If you have a Vitamix, you will need to keep the setting on low (around 4-5) and use the blender stick to push the bananas down. With a traditional blender, you will need to pulse for a few moments and then stop and press the bananas down to the bottom before pulsing again.

As far as nutrition goes, a small Wendy’s Frosty has 290 calories, 7 g fat, 48 g carbs (40 g sugar) and 8 g protein. A Rachel’s Frosty, slightly larger, has 305 calories, 3 g fat, 45 g carbs (22 g sugars) and 28 g protein! Bonus is that the sugars in a Rachel’s Frosty comes from the natural bananas and offers a lot more nutrients per serving!
